Since 1966, Mid-States Engineering and Manufacturing has grown into a major manufacturer in the material handling industry. The first "home" to Mid-States was a modest barn in the small southeastern Iowa community of Milton. Much has changed from the original agricultural based plans conceived by Jack Dixon and Dale Snyder, founders of the company.

After years of manufacturing wooden stock racks, Jack and Dale were asked to build 1000 stainless steel meat tanks for the Armour-Dial Company based in Fort Madison, Iowa. Neither man had welded stainless steel prior to this request, but quickly accepted the challenge. With the successful completion and shipment of these tanks on the last train to run through Milton, they initiated an aggressive expansion of their product line.

By 1974, Mr. Dixon became the sole owner and began producing a full line of over 500 non-powered material handling products. Quickly outgrowing the original barn, the production facility was moved to its current site in 1978 and a new 8,000 square foot building was erected.

Jack Boatman, a long-time employee, purchased the business in 1996. He has brought new visions in regards to expansion and quality. A new 70,000 square foot manufacturing facility employs over 60 people. Our in-house engineering and sales departments offer a broad knowledge of the material handling industry to our customers world-wide.

A standard product line along with the capabilities to custom design and engineer products to meet your specific needs are two of the many reasons customers have been coming to us for over 38 years. Quality, delivery and price make us the logical choice for all material handling needs.
